Recruit Day

Twenty-seven high school students joined the choir today for our fifth "Recruit Day." The students met their choir mentors and rehearsed three pieces while the Youth Choir was at a breakfast performance. At the same time, their parents met with AOSFYC Staff members. The recruits marched with the choir to the Janis Center and joined in at the end of the concert for the "Pledge of Allegiance", "Let Freedom Ring", and the "Song of Farewell." After lunch with their mentor in the cafeteria, it was off to listen at the Main Street Stage and Bricker Building. During the break at ODNR Park, they met with Mr. Snyder. They performed again at chilly ODNR, where the choir was also joined by the Senior Buckeye Chorus (see below). The recruits were troopers, marching and singing in the parade and Opus Serenades. They went onto the risers for the finale of our evening Heritage Park concert, ending their day with the AOSFYC. We hope that they will all be with us "On the Rhodes" next year!

Senior Buckeye Chorus

We were once again honored to be joined by the Senior Buckeye Chorus. After rehearsing the "Battle Hymn" with the choir in the morning, the Senior Chorus performed "What a Wonderful World" and "The Riddle Song" for the choir. At ODNR and Heritage, they added to the fireworks barrage in the finale of each concert.

"One man scorned and covered with stars still strove with his last once of courage to reach the unreachable stars; and the world will be better for this. "
