Move-in Day

After putting the finishing touches on the Rhodes Center, the staff welcomed the 2004 edition of the All-Ohio Youth Choir. The singers arrived, received a music packet, had their i.d. picture taken and took their luggage to their bunk. The parents, friends and families were treated to a demonstration concert which included songs new and old. After saying goodbye to their family, the choir hit the ground running by rehearsing several pieces. The staff provided an evening snack, and then the choir members met their Opus.

From the Desk of Estella McKinney, Office Staff

Today (and it seems the fair) has a common theme that seems to be emerging. At least from the staff's perspective! From a new 12 day fair to a new registration day, change has been good! The staff began today by organizing, cleaning, and getting ready for registration! Our new time (5-7:30pm) and day worked our really well. It made our first day of rehearsal much shorter! No long dinner line or hot sun at our first rehearsal! Our first rehearsal took place in the Rhodes Auditorium, and we received the blessing of not being bothered by planes! Overall, old friends were reunited, new ones were made, and the amazing AOSFYC experience began.

Brian Ault, C.I.T. The staff woke up at about 7:00 this morning, got ready, did some work, then went to breakfast. After breakfast, therre were staff meetings and C.I.T. office training. After our training in the office, we moved bunks, chairs, swept, and arranged more equipment. After an early meal, the singers began to arrive. They were greeted by the staff and CITs as the choir moved into the dorms. The short concert went well, and the parents left for home. At the evening rehearsal, the choir sounded very good. They seemed to pick up things very quickly. We still have a long way to go, but thus far it looks very promising.
