Vocal Care Clinic

Today was the first full day of rehearsals for the 2006 AOYC. The weather cooperated, as it was only moderately hot and humid, but the rain stayed away, except for a few brief showers. Carol Wilcox-Jones, a professor at Muskingum College, presented a session on vocal care to the choir before lunch.

Demo Concert by 2005 Choir

The members of the 2005 choir treated the new members to a concert at the Janis Center this evening, featuring a mix of pieces from last year's show, and current pieces. This is a great way for new members to hear the AOYC sound and to have the AOYC 'look' modeled.

Choral Assistants Named

Staff section leaders named two students per voice parts as 'Choral Assistants.' These students help prepare the rehearsal tents, help get the rehearsal schedule posted, and give pitches for songs during the parade. Each was presented a pitch pipe by their section leader.

Soprano: Wendy Jobes & Tracy Schurch
Alto: Joanna Van Sickle & Sam Turner
Tenor: Andrew Robinson & Corbin Neike
Bass: Patrick Mullen II & John Pollock

Alumni Association Pizza Party and Dance

Once again, the Alumni Association sponsored a themed pizza party for the choir after the evening rehearsal. The theme for this year was "Wild West." Each person received a sheriff badge, and the staff got into the spirit, wearing cowboy hats. Choir members enjoyed pizza and cookies, and the western dancing. Former staff member Daryll Rubel provided the music and dance instruction. A good time was definately had by all!
