Sale of Champions & Friendship Finale
The last day of the fair was the hottest of the 18 days, with temperatures in the high 80s and high humidity. The choir was very happy to be performing inside today. Following mass & worship service, the choir had a final rehearsal in preparation for the evening Friendship Finale. After lunch, singers began to load trunks into their parent's cars. The Sale of Champions was once again at 2:00. The choir had a relaxing dinner this year (not a hurried box lunch) before the 5:45 warm up. The choir sang "Ease on Down the Road" as a way to get pumped up for the concert, as well as one of their favorite cadence dances.
Although there were about 50 pieces in the closing concert, time flew by, and all to soon the slide show ended and singers said "farewell" to their friends.
Section Leaders name "Sparkplugs"
Each of the section leaders named a "Sparkplug" - someone who sparked them when tired and exhibits the Youth Choir spirit. Kathy Bowling, Josh Senn, Keshav Swaminathan, and Carrie Swartz.
Distinguished Service Awards Presented
As part of the Friendship Finale, the choir's Distinguished Service Awards were presented to Dave Bown, Lee Bown, Karen Hildreth, and Steve Hildreth in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to the Youth Choir. CONGRATULATIONS!
